What Is the MARA Memorial?

The MARA Memorial is an online place of remembrance where friends and family members can share the stories of loved ones lost to overdose. It exists to preserve legacy, promote understanding, and remind the world that every person mattered, was loved, and had a story worth telling.

How the memorial works

Families and loved ones are invited to participate by completing a guided questionnaire about the person they wish to honor.

From this information, MARA creates a thoughtfully written biography that celebrates the person’s life and legacy. Once completed, the biography is published on the MARA website, where it is visible to the public and becomes part of a growing collective memorial.

Who is MARA?

MARA or Michigan Addiction Recovery Alliance is a non-profit organization created to help individuals access a wide range of dependable recovery resources. In addition to an ever-growing database of resources, a recovery podcast, and a recovery-centered apparel line (Sober•Fits), MARA has developed the MARA Memorial.

Tell Your Loved One's Story

The MARA Memorial is not only about loss – it is about love, remembrance, and connection. It is a space where grief meets purpose and where stories become catalysts for empathy, awareness, and change.

We invite you to learn more about the Michigan Addiction Recovery Alliance and the MARA Memorial, and to help ensure that no life lost to overdose is forgotten.
