Samaritan House is a recovery and reentry-focused housing program for individuals in transition. Located in Muskegon, Michigan, the home offers a supportive, substance-free living environment for people serious about long-term change.
Unlike time-limited transitional housing, Samaritan House emphasizes readiness and stability over arbitrary deadlines. Residents remain in the program as long as they remain engaged and are progressing toward their recovery or reentry goals.

We welcome adult men and women who are:
In active recovery and need sober housing
Reentering the community after incarceration
Committed to living in a structured, substance-free environment
Willing to participate in coaching, life skills, and community responsibilities
We do not accept walk-ins. All residents are referred through our online system and must complete an intake process. Contact us if you have questions about the referral process.
What to Expect as a Resident
At Samaritan House, residents receive more than just a place to live. Each home includes:
- Safe, sober shared housing
- Onsite recovery coach (Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm)
- House leadership: a live-in house manager and designated support staff to help residents on their recovery journey
Program participation includes:
- IOP groups (3x/week) – Provided by our community partners
- Life skills support – Cooking, cleaning, budgeting, communication
- Chore rotation and shared meal prep – Building life rhythm and responsibility

Samaritan House is located near downtown Muskegon with access to community services and public transportation.

Rent: $700 / month
Includes:

- Food
- Personal supplies or transportation

- Self-pay
- Case manager sponsorship
- Grant funding or reentry assistance programs
How to Refer Someone
Samaritan House is referral-only. We accept referrals from:
- Case managers
- Probation or parole officers
- Shelter staff and hospital discharge planners
- Families (with follow-up screening)

Frequently Asked Questions
How long can someone stay at Samaritan House?
There is no fixed limit. As long as residents are making progress toward their goals and participating in the program, they may remain in the program.
Is food included in rent?
No. Food donations are often available, but not guaranteed. Residents should plan to provide for themselves.
Is this a treatment program?
No. This is a housing program with required participation in recovery groups and life skills. IOP is coordinated with external providers.
Can family members submit a referral?
Yes, though referrals from professionals are preferred. All referrals go through the same intake process.
